McLuckie Projects constructed a new store for Barker & Stonehouse on the site of the old Fire Station at Guildford.

Demolition took place in 2016 followed by archaeological excavations before work got underway with new construction in March 2017. The store is designed to be similar to other recent developments with extensive glazed elevations, a living wall and two floors of retail accommodation.

The project achieved BREEAM ‘Very Good’ re-utilising many of the innovative Green features used at Teesside Park.

McLuckie Projects redeveloped a Curry’s store, including strip out, a structural mezzanine floor and complete internal refurbishment

This project was designed to build on the successful features created within the Knaresborough store.

The store is built on three floors with 40000 sq ft of retail space and 7000 sq ft of head office facilities on the second floor. McLuckie Projects carried out the complete construction package including demolition, piling, groundworks, building shell and fit out within nine months and the store opened for trading in March 2015

In 2013 Barker & Stonehouse moved to London and renovated an existing building which was the last remaining part of the Prices Candle Factory in Battersea. McLuckie Projects was involved in the initial planning and design and then undertook major structural alterations before carrying out the store fit-out.

McLuckie Projects worked with Barker & Stonehouse from initial land purchase, design, planning application and the whole construction process, completing the store in seven months so that trading could commence in December 2012.

A major demolition project was undertaken by McLuckie Projects in advance of construction of a three storey extension, re-roofing, new elevation and curtain walling. The building was then fitted out by our company, the whole contract period being six months.

Barker & Stonehouse first opened a store adjacent to Ikea in 1998. McLuckie Projects constructed a new brick front elevation and carried out a full fit-out. In 2005 part of the store was refurbished and a new shop front installed as a partnership with Natuzzi.

Some years later they moved to a new location on the retail park where McLuckie Projects installed a new mezzanine floor before fitting out the existing shell.

In 2012 a complete internal refurbishment took place, installing a new timber floor and many new creative features. The existing shop front was removed, and a complete glazed front was installed by McLuckie Projects.

Barker & Stonehouse moved to Birstall Retail Park in 2004. Initially we refurbished an existing unit, installing new shop fronts, a mezzanine floor and a store fit-out. The success of the store led to expansion into the adjacent unit together with all associated construction work.

2008 saw Barker & Stonehouse move further south to Nottingham where McLuckie Projects fitted out a new unit on the Giltbrook Retail Park, including a spiral accommodation staircase. In 2012 the store was refurbished incorporating many of the features created in the Knaresborough store.

McLuckie Projects have been involved in the design and construction of six warehouses for Barker & Stonehouse and also carried out the same model, particularly adapted internally for the handling of furniture, for Maskrey’s in Cardiff.

These warehouses are as large as 3500m² and the whole Middlesbrough Distribution Warehouse complex totals 8100m².

McLuckie Projects were approached by Clinkards through their connections with Barker & Stonehouse.

Clinkards purchased a disused B&Q warehouse in Cannon Park, Middlesbrough which we refurbished internally and externally on a Design & Construct basis to create a high-quality office building with adjacent warehousing to support Cinkards increasing Internet business.

We have created a number of display stands for Barker & Stonehouse and their sister company, Baker Furniture.

We now annually erect the stand at the NEC Furniture Show carrying out amendments as required.

JT Atkinson's are expanding their business throughout the North East of England and have engaged McLuckie Projects to develop and refurbish some of their depots in Bingley, Kendal, Barrow and Darlington.

These projects involved a full construction package and further opportunities are planned.

McLuckie Projects recently completed the internal and external refurbishment of a food processing factory for an international automotive parts company. This included removal of the partitions, refrigerators and redundant equipment, replacement of the floor slab, followed by complete refurbishment of the office facilities. The external walls were newly clad whilst windows and doors were replaced. All this was made more difficult by working to strict protocols introduced to protect against Covid 19.

McLuckie Projects constructed a new flagship store for Barker & Stonehouse at the Metro Centre in Gateshead
